The "Frugal Fashionista" Recycled Runway a Fashion Event | Rebecca Lewis, Portrait Photographer, Campbell, NY
For the last three years I have been fortunate to be able to participate in "Recycled Runway" a fundraising event to benefit The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes. This is always a personal project, undertaken as a way to stretch my creativity. The goal is to create wearable fashion using items that might otherwise be discarded.
This years Design utilized 9 pairs of jeans and other findings. A wooden embroidery hoop became a hat adorned with left over tulle and hand crafted denim feathers. Zippers, buttons and seams were turned into jewelry - necklace, earnings, ring, even a brooch. And vintage dress linings became hand-sewn flowers.
Make up to complete the look was done by Martha Mehegan of Makeup by Martha.
